Harold Road, Crystal Palace
This self-build project in Crystal Palace was a three year labour of love. Throughout the project I have acted as a sounding board – for layout early on and then the decorative scheme. It’s been a very rewarding process.
The colour scheme we developed for the house is very fresh but unusual. It majors in aquas, dirty yellows and lilac – all tempered with a dose of white and grey. It really modernises the Edwardian house, dragging it into the 21st century while respecting existing features and the great bones of the house.
The client has amazing taste – there is lots of classic furniture, including the Togo sofa in the TV snug in the basement and Tom Dixon pendants in the hall and Jasper Morrison Glo ball lamps in the sitting room. We’ve added a dash of high street (Habitat, Heals) to keep the price down and the designer (Timorous Beasties and Anna Hayman) fabrics to really give the schemes a shot in the arm.
Bathrooms were completed on a budget but look anything but.
