Milkwood Road, Herne Hill
The homeowners have lived in the house for many years but their needs have changed. A knock-through lounge which which was useful open plan space when their children were little was no longer working as the kids got older. The wall was rebuilt and two rooms were created where there was previously only one.
The front room of the house was conceived as a library – complete with library shelving, Edwardian style lighting and the most amazing wallpaper from House of Hackney. By luck chance one of the new wall lights created a narnia-like lamppost growing out of the forest.
A loft conversion has provided a restful master bedroom and ensuite. Dimensions were key in this space and everything was measured to be millimetre perfect to ensure that a large fitted wardrobe could be located as well as the ensuite. Functional details like this really deliver the end result.
The main bathroom was also completely refitted to incorporate a roll-top as well as a walk in shower, with some incredible statement tiles from Fired Earth on the floor.
