Nicky asked me to help her in the late stages of a house revamp and loft conversion project. She needed advice on colour and bespoke joinery – and fast. I first saw her on a Sunday afternoon and by Thursday we had pretty much devised a colour scheme for the house based on rich, warm colours. We used an amazing, sadly now discontinued Farrow and Ball paint, Dutch Pink, in their front room on the first floor. Paired with another Farrow and Ball colour, Charleston Grey, on the joinery, Dutch Pink created a warm and versatile scheme for a room that needed to do triple duty – as an adult sitting room, office for the homeowner and a spare room for guests.
I also designed both wardrobes and a utility room. As always, the utility room was a real jigsaw puzzle. Like many utility rooms it is a hardworking, multi-tasking room and needed to accommodate washer and dryer, cleaning products and storage for coats and shoes – and somewhere to sit and put them on!
“Thank you for your help – very efficient and astute advice, excellent recommendations and sourcing assistance.”
Design tip: It is possible to design even compact utility rooms to do everything you wish – but you often need a bespoke solution with cupboards and joinery made just for you.
